Friction

Dated 9 October 2026, Friction is the second single leading into The Simulated Empathy and belongs to ACT II, The Glitch. The song takes attraction and describes it as mechanical incompatibility: two parts forced together, generating heat because they cannot move cleanly against each other.

The idea is not that the connection is weak. The opposite is true. The surfaces cannot stop making contact. Intimacy becomes pressure, abrasion and wear. A design can look correct on paper and still fail when the parts actually meet.

Where the romance starts to glitch

Friction marks a change from the seduction of Malware Romance. The earlier single is about letting something in despite the warning. Here the consequence is physical inside the metaphor: contact produces sparks, the gears strip, and the system begins rejecting the fit.

That shift places the song firmly inside The Glitch. The relationship is no longer only described as infection; it has become a machine under stress. The attraction remains, but it now carries evidence that the design cannot hold.

At the centre are forced compatibility, attraction as abrasion, and a technically perfect match that proves physically impossible. The song keeps returning to the same pressure point: the closer the two systems are pushed together, the more clearly the mismatch announces itself.

Metallic pressure

The sound is a dark alternative R&B vocal over distorted French house music with an industrial-techno edge. The low end is grinding and metallic, while the vocal hook keeps the sensual R&B centre intact.

Friction works because the sound and the concept point in the same direction without needing a literal explanation. Heat is intimacy. Wear is devotion under pressure. The more the two parts try to align, the clearer the incompatibility becomes.
